Rooted in 18th-century England, "Pretty Saro" found new life in the Appalachian mountains. Each retelling of the tale brings unique lyrical variations, but the core theme of love and longing remains. Our adaptation adds a new perspective, exploring the heartache of a parent forced to leave home and long for their daughter, Saro, who was left behind.
